Tom is our Board President. He was an elementary school teacher for many years and retired as a principal in the Abilene School District. Tom believes his experience in the education system helped draw his attention to Neighbor to Neighbor Abilene. He had worked with many families struggling to make ends meet and saw how that affected the children and their learning. Knowing that Neighbor to Neighbor Abilene was helping families through those hard times, he began to volunteer after he retired. Tom’s goal for Neighbor to Neighbor Abilene is for the organization to be THE resource center for all of Dickinson County and to continue to help families work through their struggles, not just with monetary assistance but with tools and skills to enhance their daily lives. Tom enjoys giving back to Dickinson County as much as he can. In conjunction with serving as our board president, he is the co-leader of the CARES Coalition of Dickinson County and volunteers weekly at the Abilene Food Pantry. He is also involved in many groups for retired teachers. When Tom is not giving back to our community, he enjoys spending time with his family, reading books and playing golf.
